John Tullis and the HomePro crew are to be commended for a truly excellent job. The original re-design of our patio and workmanship by HomePro have been observed by many visitors over the past several weeks. Our home was named the Pittsburg Beautiful Committee Home Of The Month for October, 2011. This coveted award is only given to two homes per month during planting season. We were honored and the selection committee toured the patio at presentation of the award. We look forward to working with HomePro for our future needs.

I was amazed at the efficiency of the “crew” who installed my 11 windows. They arrived at approximately 9:30am and by 2:30 all windows were installed, all mess cleaned up and all workers gone. They even cleaned the windows! I was so comfortable with them that after observing for a few minutes I simply went to another room, shut the door and worked on Christmas. I had anticipated a messy ordeal - - -it was actually a pleasant experience. I love my new windows !!

It's Al From Tool Time!

By Fred Tullis:
This picture was taken at the NAHB International Builders' Show in Dallas. We and our boys, (from left to right, John Jr., John's oldest son, Joel, my youngest son, David, John's second son and Fred III, my oldest son) had a great time viewing the latest and greatest in home improvement and we got to meet some famous people too! When I saw this picture I showed John the striking resemblance between myself and Richard Karn. He said, "I don't think so Fred".

In Memory of Mindy Lahey - Hughston

By John Tullis:
We recently got this letter in the mail from Jane & Michael Lahey which touched the hearts of all us here at HomePro. Among the daily hustle and bustle of work, our greatest reward comes from people like this who remind us how much more blessed it is to give than to receive.

Thanks HomePro!

By David Tullis:
We take great pride in our workmanship. Our crews are meticulous in an obsessive way. By the time we finish a job, we've become good friends with the homeowner and although I don't mean to sound braggadocios, they love us! The feeling is mutual of course. There's great personal satisfaction in knowing that we're creating happiness and gaining a new friend at the same time! It's always awesome when we get a compliment but we're slapping high fives when we get a card like this!

Friend of Fred

By Fred Tullis, Jr:
HomePro's FastLane Department is dedicated to Fred Tullis, Sr. and his amazing stock car racing history. A few days ago a gentleman came into the FastLane and asked my name. I said "hello, I'm Fred Tullis, Jr.". He said, "it's real nice to meet you Fred, my name is Clarence Danner". I was very surprised and delighted to meet Mr. Danner whom I knew from his several years of racing with dad. Clarence raced stock cars for 31 years and was a great driver and sportsman. He and dad were very good friends and even business associates with dad in the Auto Salvage business and Clarence as the owner of Carterville Garage. Clarence sponsored the race team many times. He had a lot of fantastic stories to tell me, of which I was delightfully entertained. He mentioned a day that dad helped him overcome a carburetor problem by showing Clarence how to rebuild a carburetor so it would pick up fuel while in the turns. There was a trick in the adjustment of the floats. He said, "Fred your dad would never hesitate to help a fellow driver any way he could". Clarence also mentioned that there was not a better sportsman in the field than Corky Felker, dad's car builder and owner for many of his racing years. Clarence had a few photocopies of articles from a Speedway Program and from our local newspaper, The Joplin Globe. He kindly gave me the copies which included the picture above taken at the Beaver Lake Speedway in Rogers, Arkansas in 1972. Clarence accomplished great things during his many years of racing making history in several categories not the least of which was an impressive tally of wins along with holding the record for "most laps turned" at the Nevada Speedway in Nevada, Missouri and the "oldest driver" to compete there. He mentioned that one other driver older than himself incidentally broke Clarence's record one night but when he heard about it, he made a special trip to the Speedway for another race and to regain his title! Still competitive, even today! I'm thankful to work here in the FastLane at HomePro where I get the opportunity to reminisce with many people from all over the four states about our local hero's of stock car racing.

Problem Solved ~

By Rod Haynes:
It was approximately three years ago when a kind lady and her daughter came into HomePro with a big problem concerning their swimming pool. Apparently an out of town company had installed the pool as their beautiful new home was being built. Shortly thereafter the problem started raising it’s ugly head. It was first noted when it became apparent that the pool was losing water. Then the liner started coming loose. The problem continued to escalate to the degree that the pool became completely inoperable. She tried to get the original company to come out to remedy the problem but to no avail. So she and her daughter came into HomePro to seek a solution to, by then a three year old problem. After studying the problem, the HomePro professionals recommended that the concrete surrounding the pool be jack hammered out of there and a new fiber glass pool of approximately the same size be lowered down into her old pool. After concrete was poured around the new pool, the problem was solved. The customer is very happy about her pool, for the first time in three years.

HomePro Retaining Walls

By Rod Haynes:
Approximately two years ago there was an elderly couple who lived in a very nice home on a bluff overlooking the beautiful Spring River near Riverton, Kansas. Unfortunately that spring they received over six inches of rain in a very short amount of time. The deluge of water that was running around both sides of their home was so severe as it cascaded toward the river that it completely washed away the stair step railroad tie retaining wall system. This not only ruined their beautiful landscaping layout, but it also left the foundation in a jeopardized situation which could have led to destabilizing the house structure itself. This couple, who were in a panic mode, came into Home Pro eagerly wanting to know what could be done before more damage might ensue upon their property. Home Pro immediately sent representatives out there to survey the damage and devise a plan for the solution. What ended up happening after a huge clean up effort was a stone terracing system which started down close to the river and progressed upward towards the house. Massive amounts of fill dirt were hauled into the project along with a beautifully manicured concrete stairway system. When the job was over there was a very grateful as well as very relieved couple.

Time Flies!

By Fred Tullis:
HomePro sponsored this Carl Junction Baseball Team in 1995. Two of my four sons are on the team, Joel who is 22 years old now, (3rd from the left on the front row) and Christian who is 23, (3rd from the right on the front row). Christian works here at HomePro. He's in our FastLane Sales Department and also manages our inventory. This picture hangs on our "Wall of Fame" inside the store. Sometimes I catch a glimpse in passing and the same thought comes to mind, "man time flies!"

Hello homeowner, John your HomePro man! A plaque hangs on the front of this home built in 1880. History has it a Statesman from Iowa, Martin Van Buren Bennett built this home for the love of his life. Built to last, filled with windows this home has stood the test of time. When the decision was made to replace windows, this homeowner chose HomePro. HomePro is the leader in vinyl replacement windows installed in most homes in about a day. This home might just take two!

The Ultimate Revolution

By Rod Haynes:
Recently I made the acquaintance of two people who were neighbors of each other from Parsons, KS. and both of them were involved in the violent hail storm that struck Parsons in early March. The unusual difference between the two is that one of them was a victim of the storm and the other wasn't. The reason for the difference was that one of them had vinyl siding put on by a local contractor and the other had the " SHURE-STRAT POLYMER SIDING " by Home Pro of Joplin, Missouri. It was quite extraordinary to see the differentiating results that the storm had on the two products. The vinyl siding that was nailed on was literally pulverized and partially blown off the wall, whereas the Polymer siding was virtually undamaged. After seeing the two houses I can certainly say, " if you aren't screwing it on, you're screwing it up."

HomePro America Reviews

By Tifini Wartick:
We have hundreds of very happy customer's who have given us honorable mentions and we truly appreciate it! Our goals for the company are summarized in our Mission Statement,, "To deliver the highest level of people, performance and products to our customer's who we know have a choice and to test our ability by measuring our success through our repeat, referral based customer's." See what our many great customer's have to say at www.homeproamerica.com and click on "Testimonials"
"HomePro has completed many projects for us. We appreciate the quality of the products and their superior workmanship. We've become good friends." {Roy & Pat Lincoln - Joplin, MO.}
 "We wanted to have a place to relax and enjoy the great outdoors. We use our Sunroom a lot. We like being able to ventilate it how we want to. The extra room is great for the holiday's such as Christmas. We love to put our tree out in the room." {Jim & Judy Covert - Webb City, MO.}
"We wanted to enclose our screen room so that we could us it year round and also to keep out dirt and dust. We can put our plants in the room even during the winter. The E-Z Breeze room was one of the best things we have done to our home in 20 years and the price was right. Our E-Z Breeze room is working out great!" {Pedro & Alice Pantoia - Joplin, MO.}

"My name is John P. Schoenberger. I am a CPA in Joplin, MO. I recently purchased an all brick home built in the early 60's. It had the single pane conventional metal windows. The first night after I moved in the temperature dropped. The next morning it took me three towels and over 20 minutes to soak up the water from the inside of the windows and window panes. I looked in the Joplin Globe and found an advertisement from HomePro about new windows. I called and the HomePro representative came to my home. We discussed my options. I always remembered what my late father taught me. He said if you're going to make a major purchase buy the best quality you can afford. I decided on the Gorell triple pane windows. I like the advantages these windows offered, such as ease of raising the windows, ease of cleaning, the attractive wood grain finish and of course, keeping cold windy moist weather outside. The manufacturer of these windows has received the number one ranking for energy efficient windows as determined by the U.S. Government the past three years. The HomePro installers were very professional and didn't mind taking the time to answer my questions. The installation process took about a day and a half. The old windows came out without problems and the new windows were installed with ease. I noticed an immediate warmth to the house and a secure feeling within me that these windows were making my new home complete. Yes I did pick the top of the line but I knew in my heart the long term benefits far outweighed the short term outlay for the windows. I would recommend calling HomePro and talk with John or Rod. They can help you cut your energy bills with their recommendations of new windows for your home." {John P. Schoenberger - Joplin, MO.}
"I just want to say to whom it might concern that I was thoroughly pleased with the entire staff of HomePro. The wall system Sunroom is a quality product and was installed by a very thorough crew. I enjoyed doing business with their sales staff and would recommend them to anyone without hesitation." {James L. Ford - Racine, MO.}

Log Cabin Vinyl Siding

By Fred Tullis:
HomePro sells a full line of top quality exterior building products including vinyl and polymer sidings. For several years people have asked, "is there such a thing as vinyl siding that looks like cedar logs?" Although there are sidings that have a wood blend appearance, there was no such thing as a vinyl siding that looked like cedar logs, until recently. We're excited that it has become available and we can't help but notice the same enthusiasm by our customer's!

Stay Off The Ladder!

By Fred Tullis:
Did you know that there are over 100,000 ladder related accidents per year? Wow! That's crazy! Makes me wonder why any reasonably sensible person would even attempt to climb a ladder! It's a necessary evil in the home improvement industry if I ever saw one before! How 'bout a tip! Stay off of ladders! But what about all that gunk that gets in my gutters, you ask? We gotta keep our gutters clean or it can turn into a real "or else"! Here's the solution to that problem, HomePro Gutter Helmet! This system allows water to flow into the guttering while pushing leaves and debris over the top. It's a super cool system and here's the best part, it's affordable! Consider the benefits and above all, stay off that dang darn ladder!

Extreme Makeover Home Edition

By Rod Haynes:
Last fall the widely publicized A.B.C. TV Extreme Makeover Home Edition "Seven Houses in Seven Days" took place on South Connor Street in Joplin. Home Pro was among the businesses that participated, not to mention several volunteer organizations and local contractors. Home Pro was represented by approximately twenty administration staff and crews.The scheduled arrival was to be around midnight for a duration of five to six hours with a mission to install over 100 windows in seven houses. As is the case with any complex project there are usually unforeseen obstacles which may occur, and this project was no different. We found ourselves bouncing from house to house working only in areas that were ready for windows to be installed while giving others time to finish their appointed tasks. Given the set backs plus working on the coldest night thus far of that season, Home Pro was able to finish our part of the project by around 10:00 that morning thus helping seven deserving families to move into  their new homes and in turn delivering back another blowing punch to the May 22nd tornado

When Momma Ain't Happy, Ain't Nobody Happy!

By Fred Tullis:
My wife loves to grow flowers and she's quite good at it! Recently we put new windows in our home. There was one window in particular that we agreed would easily accommodate a Garden Window which she has been wanting for a very long time. We, (mostly she) decided to go ahead and get one. What a great decision, (we made)! My wife loves the Garden Window and her flowers thrive like their on plant steroids! She's always excited to show me her awesome creations. I can tell you this one thing for sure, she's very happy, and we all know, "When Momma's Happy, Everybody's Happy!"

We're Open!

By Fred Tullis:
I understand how difficult it is to get things done in an average day. I work 6 days a week.  It's hard for me to even find time to get a haircut!  We thought about that when we opened HomePro. We considered opening for 1/2 day on Saturday but we were undecided. Eventually we came to realize that there are a lot of people just like us who work very hard every day and they need to be able to get their home improvement ideas in forward motion when they have time, like on a Saturday! So in 1993 we decided to open all day on Saturday's. Did you know that HomePro is the only Home Improvement Company in the entire area who is open on Saturday's, (excluding the big box stores that is). HomePro is truly the only family owned home improvement store anywhere around here where you can come and talk to someone about your home improvement ideas, one-on-one, in a low keyed and relaxed atmosphere. Our one-of-a-kind showroom stands alone as simply the best place to see the most diverse line of high quality exterior building products available in the industry. The fact is, a lot of people do come see us on Saturday's which confirms that our decision to stay open all day was a good one! If you want to talk home improvements, come on in any time but if your schedule is tight, come in on Saturday! We're here for you!

Amazing Transformation

By Rod Haynes:
Lately I've been driving down St. Louis Street in Joplin and couldn't help but notice that a house had been moved into what used to be an open field on the West side of the street approximately 3 or 4 blocks North of Zora.  As the days went on I observed the house being added onto in about every direction until it had blossomed into a completely unrecognizable structure dramatically different from what it once was.  After hearing more about this, I ultimately found out it was a house previously located North of the intersection of Zora & Main Street Road about 1 block and on the East side of the road where the garage and attached building still sit.  In further witnessing the unfolding of the last couple of days I was completely astounded to see the final results.  The home is a beautiful white with a perfectly green trim compliment.  Anyone going by there the last few days I'm sure will have noticed the "HOMEPRO MAN" sign standing proudly out front as well as he should.  It was a unique experience just to be able to see this transformation take place on my daily drive-by.

Home Show

By Rod Haynes:
Recently I was able to attend the Joplin " EXPO " at the Hammond trade center. Although attendance seemed down from shows I've recalled in the past, this didn't hamper enthusiasm displayed by the vendors along with their successful completion of an array of unique displays showcasing every conceivable product or service imaginable. All displays were well represented by knowledgeable people who were happy to explain whatever it was in which their company was noted for. The displays themselves varied from a modest table with literature to elaborate displays depicting themes which gave potential clients an imaginary deeper view of the company image. There were a few displays that achieved that lofty position, but none were better than the exhibition presented by " HOME PRO." For years the theme of HOME PRO has been the " Wizard of Oz "  which was brilliantly encapsulated in the expo display. The suggestion  was that even as terrible as the Joplin tornado was there can still be a happy ending when HOME PRO is included in the rebuilding process.

Extreme Makeover 7 Houses In 7 Days

By Fred Tullis:
HomePro was privileged to be a part of the ABC-TV Special, Extreme Makeover Home Edition ~ 7 Houses In 7 Days. As many people already know, it was the final episode and what a way to go out! Our window crew was responsible for installing all of the windows in all 7 homes. What a deal! Our guys worked from midnight til about 10am until the job was finished. HomePro has done several Home Makeovers of our own. Their an exciting challenge for sure! We call in the troops from several different crews to comprise a "Super-Crew". There's a lot of planning that goes into a Makeover project and much work going on behind the scenes so when the clock strikes midnight, (so to speak) HomePro's Super-Crew is able to hit the floor running! It's not all work, there's a lot of fun activities going on including food and entertainment and not limited to an occasional practical joke. Once during a 3 day makeover we did in North Joplin, one of the crew went into the porto potty and as soon as he did John, (the Owner of HomePro) backed a skidsteer into the door so the guy couldn't get out. During a different Makeover we did in Pierce City, I found a switch inside the home that controlled an outlet. One of the guys had his drill plugged into the outlet. I watched as he climbed the ladder to drill a hole. As soon as he pulled the trigger on his drill, I would turn the switch off. The worker would jiggle the drill and check to make sure his extension cord was plugged in and I would turn the switch back on. As soon as he started to drill again, I would turn the switch off. Eventually the worker came down the ladder to check the wire and make sure it was plugged into the outlet. As I saw him coming I would turn the switch back on and then hide in a closet while the worker came to the outlet. As soon as the worker climbed the ladder and pulled the trigger again, I would turn the switch back off. After about 10 minutes the worker caught on and went around the back of the house, sneaking in the back door. I was busted! But only after a hearty laugh among many who were watching it all unfold.

The FastLane (zoom zoom!)

By Fred Tullis:
Hello from the FastLane! My name is Fred Tullis, Jr. and I work in HomePro's FastLane Department. What's the FastLane you ask? It's where we sell our full line of excellent quality products wholesale to Home Builders, Contractors, Installers and Home Owners. Why is it called The FastLane you ask? That's an interesting story, I'm glad you asked! HomePro is a family business owned by my brother John. John built HomePro on property our dad, Fred Tullis, Sr. owned for 35 years while operating his business, Fred Tullis Auto Salvage. John had been in business for nearly 20 years as owner of Rain Drain Seamless Guttering Company, at one time the largest Seamless Guttering Company in the Dallas, Fort Worth area. Later John moved the company from Texas to Howell, Michigan and expanded his business to include Siding and Windows. When dad decided to retire, John bought the property here on North Main Street in Joplin and excitedly began to build HomePro all the while highly anticipating the move back home to Joplin. Once construction of HomePro was complete, John vigorously moved his family and business from Michigan back to his home town and set up shop. Fred Tullis, Sr. was a Champion Race Car Driver so the actual theme of the FastLane came naturally as John was seeking a way to honor the memory of dad's spectacular racing history while integrating a fast, efficient way to get customers in and out of the wholesale department, thereby saving them time and money! Ultimately the FastLane was dedicated to the legacy of Fred Tullis' racing history. The FastLane is awesome! You can call your order in and drive thru a specially designed lane in the warehouse for super fast loading! When you make your way to the counter you'll find a museum inside the store with pictures, articles and memento's from Fred Tullis' amazing days of stock car racing. HomePro continues to honor the legacy of Fast Fred Tullis with Fast Friendly Service in the FastLane!
